Sandy Lamont
Producer, recording engineer, guitarist, bassist, keyboardist and vocalist Sandy first appeared on the Claremont, California music scene in 1961 with The Injectors, faithfully recreating California surf rock and roll. By 1963, he had relocated to Tucson, Arizona and was lead guitarist with The Twilights adding the music of the British Invasion and American Top 40 to his extensive repertoire. His Tucson experience continued with The Vibrations (1966) and several country music bands from 1967 to 1970, many of which used his guitar expertise at Copperstate Recording Studios. In 1970, Sandy moved to Phoenix where he was a key member of Larry Rickard and The New Breed, Just Us (working with John Hesterman for the first time), Atlantis (again with Hesterman) which featured Shay Dennis and noted psychic Dr. Richard Ireland. In 1972 Sandy was a founding member of TRACE (with Hesterman and drummer Rick Grammatico), a Phoenix institution until 1977, when he formed and fronted E-Z (1978). He has performed with Nashville’s Lee Dresser and Johnny Tillotson.
Sandy founded Desert Sound Recording Studios in 1972 and was owner and engineer of this successful studio until the late 1980’s. His clients included Gary Lewis & The Playboys, Twisted Sister, Steve Dodge, Jay Maynes, Charles Goss, Cosmo Topper, Midnight Blues Band, The Stevenson’s, Cese White (of KHAT-AM radio) and Hans Olsen. Not long after Desert Sound, Sandy founded Lamont Audio, LLC, now based in Gilbert, Arizona; a state of the art, analogue and digital recording facility with a client list any studio would envy. On the performance front, Sandy continued as featured guitarist throughout the Phoenix area from 1988 to 2007 with Two’s Company.
Sandy is a founding member of TRACE and is featured on guitar, bass, keyboards and vocals.
